What you will learn

Improve your accordion technique and musicianship through playing solo and ensemble music, ranging from classics and standards, to folk, musette and tango. Suitable for players with at least 2 years' experience. Accordion students are encouraged to try out for Morley Accordion Orchestra.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Play solo pieces with confidence, showing an awareness of good bellows control and musicality
  • Use simple musical exercises to improve RH and LH technique
  • Understand LH button layout and how to use the bass to create accompaniments in a range of styles
  • Perform with others in duos, trios and larger ensembles, maintaining own part with confidence

    You will learn by example from the tutor, through practical playing both individually and in a group and from peer support.

    Entry requirements

    This course is for those who have completed Accordion Level 2 or have equivalent experience. Contact the tutor for advice before enrolling. You will need your own accordion - ideally with a minimum of 72 bass. Online enrolment on term 3 of this course, starting in April 2017, is only available to those enrolled in the previous term.
