Entry requirements

At our Advice & Guidance days, you will take a test and speak to a teacher before you can enrol. Assessment dates are updated regularly on our website: http://staging.morleycollege.ac.uk/departments/essential_skills/how_do_i_enrol You can also email the tutor directly at Kantuta.carroll@morleycollege.ac.uk for details on how to join. There is no formal entry requirement, but you need to do an assessment to check your level and ensure that the course is suitable for you.

What you need to know before you enrol

Good progression depends on good attendance, regular practice of English and completing homework. The 'jump' to mainstream education is substantial and students are expected to commit to regular daily practise of all four skills and read widely. This is a high-level English course. Therefore, only students who have at least level E3 should apply.

What you need

A laptop or tablet with a camera and keyboard is needed to access the lessons (a mobile phone will not suffice). The college will provide you with Microsoft Office for free as well as other services; you can read more here: https://staging.morleycollege.ac.uk/help/it-support-for-students/

What you can do next

Progression will depend on progress made during the class. The teacher will advise you on the next step. You may want to continue onto the next level – ESOL Level 2. Your next step may be mainstream education where English is the medium of instruction or employment. You may want to progress onto a CAE or IELTS course for university admission or widen employment opportunities and gain promotion at work.
