Sustainability Week Events 2023
This year, Sustainability Week will be running from 5-9th June, and we’d love for you to get involved. Check out a list of activities and events below:
-
Being conscious about the negative impacts our daily lives have on the environment, social communities, our health and well-being can help us to be more sustainable. Every small change we make to counter these negative impacts can help to change the world we live in. So, we are asking that for Sustainability week, you think about one small permanent change you can make this year to make a positive impact.
This could be: using a reusable water bottle or cup, cycling or walking to get around (get off the bus one stop early and walk…), picking up litter and putting it in a bin when out and about – the list goes on…
It would be great once you have thought of this change, that you take a selfie of yourself, post it on your social media feed tagging us on Instagram @Morley_College or Twitter @MorleyCollege with the #MorleyCollegeLondonChangeOneThing to spread the word.
-

DOCUMENTARY BY DYLAN HOWITT 68 MINUTES | UK | 2022 Follow @nettledressfilm. FOLLOWED BY AN HOUR OF Q&A WITH ALLAN BROWN
For Sustainability Week Morley College is proud to be showing The Nettle Dress Film on Thursday 8 June with a Q&A afterwards with Allan Brown, maker of the Nettle Dress. You will have a chance to handle the Dress.
Textile artist Allan Brown spends seven years making a dress by hand just from the fibre of locally foraged stinging nettles. This is ‘Hedgerow Couture’, the greenest of slow fashion and also his medicine. It’s how he survives the death of his wife and finds a beautiful way to honour her. A modern-day fairytale and hymn to the healing power of nature and slow craft.
