17:45 – 18:30 Open Day Taster: Jane Eyre – Love and Marriage: Charlotte Brontë’s eternal love story between Jane and Rochester, which results in their marriage, is one of literature’s greatest romances. During the course of the novel, marriage is not represented in a positive light, however, with fortune hunting, stultification, coercion, imprisonment, madness, adultery, and entrapment all being associated with the state of matrimony. In this taster session we consider Charlotte Brontë’s representation of Victorian romantic love and marriage in her novel ‘Jane Eyre’.
