This workshop will cover the foundation and basic vocabulary of house dance. With its roots in hip hop dance and influenced by many other dance styles from tap to salsa, this style came into the scene in the late 70s – early 80s due to the various social and music scene changes. Heavy on footwork and keeping a sense of freedom, house dance is soulful and highly creative.
- A vocabulary of house dance basis and variations such as train, farmer, salsa step, pas de beurre/chase
- An understanding of the history and social background of house dance
- An improved sense of musicality
- Perform a short combo
- The ability to explore and find variations on given steps
