What you will learn

Authentic Jazz Dance is an umbrella term for the various African American styles of solo, partnered and group dances that emerged alongside the new popular music of jazz and swing in the 1920s –1940s. An intermediate-level lindy hop course. Lindy Hop is the famous African-American partnered dance from Harlem New York that sprang up in response to the new swinging style of jazz in the 1930s and 1940s. Designed for those who have already learned basic lindy hop, this course will expand on the basic 6 and 8 beat figures to widen the repertoire and bring confidence to freestyling and social dancing. We will also be incorporating lindy charleston figures. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the following learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to an advanced-level course.
