This introduction to basketry will cover some of the main techniques of contemporary basketry, such as coiling, checkweave plaiting, twining, and random weave. You will work with a range of materials, from yarn and paper to cane and foraged fibres.

- Be aware of how basketry is used around the world and in contemporary craft
Cost
Class format and activities
The tutor will bring in and discuss relevant samples and demonstrate techniques. You will practise the techniques with observation and feedback from the tutor. You will also share your knowledge and experience with the group through discussion and show and tell.
Entry requirements
No previous experience is necessary, but a degree of manual dexterity is required.

Pen and notebook to make notes, folder for handouts. Basic materials will be provided, but you may want to explore others when working on your own projects.
