Learners will explore glass as a raw material in its varying forms, learn the basics of cutting, shaping, layering and stacking sheet glass to create unique handmade glass ornaments. This course is the perfect introduction for beginners but is open to all levels, an opportunity for anyone interested in art and craft to explore and experiment with glass as a material.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Apply creative technical skills to produce a wide range of fused ornamental glass pieces
- Be able to produce glass pieces using varying glass types to produce colour, texture and form.
- Understand and evaluate the suitability of selected materials within the glass-making process.
- Work independently, safely and confidently within a glass studio environment.

Class format and activities
You will be working on set tasks and processes guided by your expert glass tutor, Anna Chrysopoulo. Teaching takes place in a practical workshop setting, including both demonstration and discussion. To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

This course is suitable for students of all levels of experience and is perfect for anyone interested in learning, or further exploring techniques within fusing and slumping, creating decorative and functional glass for the festive holiday season. What you need to know before you enrol
The fee includes tuition, specialist materials, alongside use of specialist equipment, including glass kiln firings. However, Learners will be expected to purchase some of their own Kiln-formed glass materials such as alternative glass types (guidance will be given by the tutor on the first session). You may need to purchase your own small tools, and possibly some additional materials as advised by your tutor.
What you need
It would be helpful to bring a sketchbook/notebook, pencils/pen/marker pen etc. You will need to wear sturdy shoes, boots or trainers (no open sandals); an apron. We have basic tools in the workshop which have been adapted to facilitate a safe learning environment. Glass and other materials are available for sale to students, however, Learners may want to buy or bring in their own resources to have a wider variety in choice of materials.
