What you will learn

This course is for you if you would like to communicate more fluently in an educational, social and work place environment. The course will ensure you speak more accurately and with a wide range of vocabulary and grammar structures. Each term includes all four skills but focuses on a specific skill for the exam taken in that term. When you pass each skill, you will receive a certificate for that particular skill. The online setting allows busy people to learn with the flexibility they need.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Work towards obtaining more detailed information through verbal communication
  • Work towards contributing constructively to a group discussion

Class format and activities

This is an online course and lessons will take place using Microsoft Teams. Classwork will consist of pair work, small group projects and whole class sessions. You will have the chance to talk on a one-to-one level with your tutor to discuss your goals, progress and questions. You will have an individual learning plan with targets that are personalised for you. You will experience a wide and varied range of activities, such as listening to audios, role play, reading aloud, writing activities, and games to develop your English skills. At the end of each term, you may take City & Guilds exams for the skill you are studying. If you pass an exam, you will receive a certificate from City and Guilds for that particular exam.

Entry requirements

You will take an initial assessment in centre and have an interview to determine your current level of English. This level is aimed at students who have become independent users of English and are beyond an Entry 3 level.

What you need to know before you enrol

Course Fees: Variable rates are available. You may be able to do the course for FREE depending on your personal circumstances. Guided Learning Hours: 72, there is a weeklong break for half term. Class time : 6 hours per week Independent study: A minimum of 4 hours per week, including regular practice of what you learn in class and completing any homework. Attendance and Punctuality: Making good progress on the course will depend on regular attendance and punctuality. A minimum of 90% attendance is required from students at Morley College.
