You will work on reading and writing, developing techniques to check and correct your work. You will learn through tutor instruction, discussion, group work and independent study. You will be given regular homework assignments. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future your goals i.e. progression to the accredited Functional Skills English Level 2 course.
You must be fluent in spoken English. You will have been born and raised in an English-speaking country or studied in English. All new students need to take an assessment before they can enrol. Assessment dates are updated regularly on our website.
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. You will be required to study outside of class time and be able to use the internet.
You will need an A4 lined writing pad with margin, pen, pencil, coloured highlighters, a dictionary and a ring binder folder in which to keep your work.
