There are other versions of this course available. We’ve listed them below and summarized the differences between the one that you are currently viewing.
This studio-based course is for anyone who is an experienced potter and wishes to continue their journey of personal development in a collaborative and creative environment. You can access the ceramics studio and use extensive resources and also be supported by a fellow professional ceramicist who will act as both tutor and technical support. If you thrive in a studio environment but your creative practice has developed beyond the standard pottery class then this is the ideal course for you. Some of the things you will cover in this course are: • Coiling, slab building, throwing on the wheel, sculpting, and modeling clay • Applying slip decoration and underglaze stains to decorate your work • Applying glazes to your work to create attractive surfaces • Finishing your final pieces to create an outcome of your own design • Your work will be yours to keep and the finished pieces will be fired to the temperature ranges that meet your needs throughout your course • We have the capacity and skills to make and develop glazes to meet your specific needs and design outcomes if this interests you, otherwise there are a wide range of engobes, stains, oxides and glazes firing across all ranges ready prepared for you
Safety is paramount at Morley College and all on-site classes will be run with smaller class sizes and additional hygiene procedures in place.
You must be aged 19 or over at the start date of the course. Experienced potters only.
Regular attendance is to your own benefit. If you know you can't attend please inform the tutor in advance.
As a student of Morley College you have access to Microsoft 365, including Office 365 and Teams throughout your course.
