What you will learn

Come and find out about different printmaking techniques and try some of them out! Ask questions about our courses and find out which course in the New Year you might like to do with expert advice from tutor and Area Manager Michelle Avison.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • try out different printmaking techniques
  • explore the differences between, and understand the principles of relief, intaglio and mono printing
  • make small sample prints to take home
  • find out more about our printmaking classes and which ones you might like to do

    There will be printmaking techniques to try out and examples of prints to look at. The tutor will demonstrate the different techniques and help you to try out different things.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    Health & Safety information will be given at the start of the class. Some chemicals used may be harmful in pregnancy, and some may cause irritation in very rare cases. Please let the tutor know if you are pregnant or have any sensitivities and they will advise you as to necessary precautions Note: at present there is no wheelchair access to the print studio, and the studios are on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building. If you have any mobility issues please contact the department prior to enrolling.

    What you can do next

    We suggest one of our beginner classes, such as W23PTGA08C, W23PTGA08D, W23PTGA08E, W23PTGA08F on Friday daytime or W23PTGF05A- E on Wednesday evenings. There are also good classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Tuesday mornings. The tutor will advise about follow on classes.
