Learn the basics of playing the violin and/or viola, as well as general musicianship through group tuition. Expand your knowledge, technique and repertoire and enjoy playing with others. This course is suitable for players with 1 term of experience. The lessons will be structured as a mixture of class tuition, individual practice and small group practice.

Learning to play the violin or viola in an online group setting.
Entry requirements
Ideally you should have completed the Violin and Viola 1/2 A course. Knowledge of reading and playing music on the violin or viola in 1st position, using semi-breve, minim, crotchet and quaver notes.
What you need to know before you enrol
It is necessary to practise for a short time regularly between the lessons as the class progresses as a unit.

Your instrument and bow. During the first session, you will receive guidance from your tutor about how to access the online course material, such as recordings and sheet music.
What you can do next
Each term’s learning is consecutive for the whole year. This is followed by the 'Violin /Viola 2 A' and 'String Ensemble A' class for the following year. Musicianship classes are also available at Morley College, ask the tutor for guidance and advice. There are other instrumental classes you could try, such as : Piano, Classical Guitar, Flute, Clarinet or Cello.
