This course is suitable for players of Grade 6/7 standard. Entry is subject to audition. You should prepare two contrasting pieces.
In addition to the entry requirement, students must also be prepared to spend a significant amount of time practising their works out of the class time. Your tutor will help you find the suitable repertoire if required. There is a lot of listening and you will learn from listening to other students as well as one-to one tuition. There is an informal end-of term concert at the end of each term. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.: progression to another course. Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time.
Music scores relevant to the lessons and notebook and pencil. Each student should keep a journal where they can record feedback from the tutor and to reflect on their progress both in class and during their own practice out of college.
