There are other versions of this course available. We’ve listed them below and summarized the differences between the one that you are currently viewing.
Sample and evaluate the best in film and theatre in London in the company of filmmaker and critic Jon Davies. A new film or play will be viewed every fortnight and then discussed and analysed the following week in class at Morley Waterloo. Students choose most of the films or plays through a voting system which keeps things fresh! Often the theatres will put on a special question and answer session for the class who often attend the plays on Thursday evenings together but this is not compulsory. Films we attend on our own.
Discussions sometimes in pairs but mostly as a whole group on the viewed material from the cinema and theatre visits. There will be a mix of question and answer and tutor input. Each session starts with an introduction to the film or play and a chance to hear about other films and plays the class have seen. With theatre visits the class often attend together and meet the cast and director afterwards for a Q and A.
A willingness to engage in group discussion and debates is expected. You should be able to travel independently and be able to make a commitment to attend regular performances of films and plays.
An interest or curiosity about film and theatre. The course may include films classified for viewing by 18 years and over. Admission charges and costs of visits to films and theatre productions are not included in the course fee. The class often try and attend a play on the same evening.
A willingness to enjoy leaving your comfort zone, trying plays or films you might not normally choose and some you would of course!
