On this course you will create your own 2 minute showreel with experienced actor and teacher Julia Lewis. The course fee includes the cost of working with a professional film maker who will film and edit your showreel. The showreel will consist of two simply filmed and edited scenes of no more than 1 minute each. You will work with fellow students to perform in each others showreels as scene partners. This fun and rewarding course will give you the tools needed to act on camera for self-tapes and showreels. Approval is needed to enrol on this course. Cost
Class format and activities
You will work collaboratively with actor and tutor/director Julia Lewis on a variety of scripts E.g. TV, film, commercial and corporate scripts and genres. You will study from leading industry practitioners and use immersive drama exercises to discover the difference between stage and screen acting. Prepared scripts will be developed through the rehearsal process and filmed. Students will view the filmed work, then discuss and analyse techniques, skills and progress identifying areas for development. The tutor may provide additional material and/or practical tasks via any of the online platforms supported by the College (Moodle, MS stream, GoogleClassroom).
Entry requirements
This course is suitable for students who have studied acting previously. We hold friendly auditions for this course where you will meet the tutor and take part in a couple of exercises so that we can assess if the course is right for you. What you need to know before you enrol
Excellent attendance and punctuality will be required from all students. This course will include some completion of activities outside of class time, e.g. preparation of favourite exercises to share with fellow students. What you need
Bring a notebook, pencil, eraser and pen to class always. Wear loose clothing and footwear appropriate for an acting class. Bring any scripts which have been given by the tutor and any text as requested.
