What you will learn

This is an ongoing creative writing workshop for more experienced students to improve their work-in-progress or for those who wish to develop/maintain their writing skills through set practice pieces, which will be crafted and developed. Please be prepared to give and receive feedback in a positive and nurturing workshop-based class environment. Progress is made through practice and learning from peers.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Exercise a greater critical and analytical response to texts
  • Apply the conclusions of the analysis of the class and tutor to your own work
  • Consider when necessary to make that decision, hone your skills to refine, edit and redraft

Class format and activities

To benefit most from the class, ideally, you will have some work-in-progress (novel, short stories, flash fiction, film script, radio script, play) or at least an idea you wish to develop from a synopsis to a first draft. Students are invited to submit up to 3000 words (3 pieces) three times over the course for peer feedback.  Students are expected to read and give feedback on others’ submissions and be open to receiving feedback in a creative and nurturing atmosphere.

Entry requirements

This course is for the more advanced student with some creative writing experience. You do not need to have been published or have had a formal education just a passion for writing and reading. For more information about the course contact the class lecturer: lanacitron@morleycollege.ac.uk
