What you will learn

Black British artist Everton Wright WWW.EVEWRIGHT.COM will be leading this two-day life sculpture & drawing course aimed at artists interested in working with Black life models. London has been celebrated for its cultural diversity which is a consideration for the model choice. This course will be about looking, drawing and making relating to the Black aesthetic. As a Black British artist one of Everton’s aims and objectives is to look at placing more context of images and stories of people of colour in museums and galleries to increase visibility. He will be working alongside the students throughout this two-day course sharing his tips and techniques. There will be discussions and debates at the end of each day to provide feedback. Open to all levels from beginners to experienced.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Learn and explore life drawing and clay modelling working with Black life models
  • Celebrating London's cultural diversity explore looking, drawing and making relating to the Black aesthetic
  • Discussion and debate around images and stories of people of colour in museums and galleries to increase visibility
  • Learn to hollow and prepare clay studies for firing
  • Learn and practice studio Health and Safety

Class format and activities

Group demonstration, step by step instruction, one to one guidance, working from the life model drawing and modelling clay sculpture, discussion and debate

Pelham Hall Sculpture studio is off site on Lambeth Walk 5 min walk from Lambeth north tube station.
