What you will learn

Develop your Contemporary Fine Art creative practice within a forward-thinking and multidisciplinary course. The HND is a two-year level 5 qualification equivalent to the first 2 years of a fine art degree. Specialise and refine your creative practise in a supportive and stimulating environment with an excellent level of personal tutor contact and a dedicated studio space. You will be challenged and supported to extend your technical skills and strengthen your body of work. You will take part in guided visits to exhibitions and galleries and will experience a broad range of workshop demonstrations that will introduce and build the skills you need to develop as a practicing artist. The HND will give you the confidence to progress your ideas, make your mark in the context of current practice and support you in building a body of work that can best represent your vision, strengths and talents as a professional and exhibiting artist. On successful completion of this course you will achieve a Higher National Diploma in Art Practice.

Class format and activities

The course is delivered through studio practice, individual tutorials and seminar discussions. The course is assessed through completion of six units at regular intervals. You will have extenstive contact with our teaching staff, and through group crits, with peer assessment opportunites Your practical studio work, your ability to organised and curate exhibitions, and to promote ideas through your art will also form part of your ongoing assessment and feedback. You will be expected to document your work digitally around key assessment dates that will be clearly shared with you throughout the course.
