What you will learn

This course is designed for newcomers who want to explore what it is that stops us being at our best in the work-place and in our personal lives? For many of us it is simply because we do not feel very sure of ourselves. This class is for people who do not necessarily want to pursue acting as a career or even a hobby but would just like to feel more confident.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Learn why your body reacts the way it does in a stressful situation and how to deal with these nerves
  • Have fun experimenting with physicality, yours and others
  • Learn about body-language and non-verbal communication
  • Learn how tension affects the body and simple techniques to release it
  • Learn about your voice and how best to use it
  • Try on different characters and explore how they feel

    The class uses fun warm-up exercises and theatre games in a safe and friendly atmosphere to help you develop your self-expression and release your creativity. You will receive constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the following learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to an advanced-level course.
