What you will learn

You have passed your Level 1 exams or use English at an upper-intermediate level. You still need time to develop your English before you can gain ESOL Level 2. This class will help you develop your English and your confidence. .

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Plan text for a specific purpose
  • Produce content which meets the purpose effectively
  • Use language effectively (genre, purpose and audience)
  • Use grammar, punctuation and spelling correctly

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Award in ESOL Skills for Life (Writing) [CG]

Class format and activities

You will:, - work individually, in pairs and in groups to develop language skills and confidence., - practise listening, speaking, reading and writing skills., - use the internet and other technology to develop language skills., - build your study skills , - prepare for exams where relevant.

This class takes place at the Lewington Centre, 9 Eugenia Rd, Rotherhithe, London SE16 2RU, Good progress depends on good attendance, regular practice of English and completing homework

Lined A4 paper or notebook., Pen and pencil, Rubber, A4 file, A smartphone or tablet will be useful in class.

What you can do next

The teacher will advise you on the next step. In Terms 2 and 3, you will continue to work on your reading and writing, speaking and listening. In Term 3, depending on progression and your tutor's advice, you may sit an appropriate Speaking and Listening exam.
