You will learn to make a bowl in copper by using the traditional silversmithing techniques of blocking out, hammering and planishing. Through the development of these skills you will then be taught to form a vessel of your own design using the technique of raising. Other methods of manipulating metal, such as embossing to create sculptural designs in flat sheets will be introduced as the course progresses. Overall you will be introduced to the incomparable experience of hammering and forming sheet metal.
