There are other versions of this course available. We’ve listed them below and summarized the differences between the one that you are currently viewing.
Learn how to make one of your favourites! Without naming names in the Autumn we look at the Grand Dame of Punk, in the Winter we look at the designer who brought us the New Look and in the Summer we explore the work of the world renowned female Japanese designer. You will explore the way of working from sketch to finished garment of one of these exciting designers/design houses as you draw inspiration from their work to create a design appropriate to your skill level. Using techniques particular to the methodology of the house and using reverse engineering you will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the way in which the designs are brought to life. After being introduced to an overview of the designer's work you will immerse yourself into the ways of working in an atelier and set upon creating a design as guided by your tutor.
Teaching is both to the whole class and on an individual, one-to-one basis using demonstrations, discussion, examples, samples, hand-outs and other technical support material where appropriate. You will receive feedback throughout your course to help you develop your skills. For you to be able to achieve on this practical class punctuality and attendance are key. Please inform your tutor of any absences. Microsoft Teams will be used for general class specific communication and for posting additional information. Health and safety inductions are planned into your course delivery, and you are asked not to use any machinery or specialist equipment until you have received specific training. Morley provides a positive and friendly atmosphere and to support this all students should be considerate and kind and work in a collegiate and collaborative way and to not monopolise the tutor.
