The aim of this course is to develop, consolidate and students’ command of the language in a relaxed and supportive learning environment. Students will discuss topics and issues related to contemporary current affairs and culture of French-speaking countries. The course will focus on improving speaking and research skills. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss learning outcomes with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.: progression to a higher stage.

Class format and activities
The course will be delivered face-to-face. To access additional resources and homework you may need to use the College’s virtual learning environment, Moodle. The course will be learner-centered and conducted in French, through a variety of communicative activities: debate, class discussion, and presentation. By means of reading and listening authentic and specific material for gist and detail, you will learn how to summarise information and reconstruct arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. In to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment
Entry requirements
A good command of the language equivalent to A-level or similar in all four skills. An active and interest in current affairs and cultural topics related to social, political, and cultural issues. Enthusiasm for the subject and commitment are also valuable assets as the course requires a fair amount of research and written homework.

Excellent attendance and punctuality from all students. This course requires some additional study outside of class time.
