By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- use basic greetings and courtesies e.g. good morning, excuse me, yes/no, thank you etc
- use basic vocabulary e.g. numbers 1-100, nationalities, food and drink, places etc
- ask and reply to very simple questions e.g.How much? What do you like or dislike? etc
- read Hiragana

Class format and activities
The course will be delivered using spoken and written forms, and other tools including powerpoint slides and interactive presentation. The teacher also uses Moodle VLE to support online learning. During the lesson students will interact using group or pair work, quizzes, games etc. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.progression to an advanced-level course.
