A course designed for players with two or more years of playing experience on bass that are willing to explore the role of the bass in Jazz Music. This is the third term of this online course.
Classes will be held online on Zoom and are continuous over three terms. Each term is a separate course: Jazz Bass A (from September), Jazz Bass B (from January), Jazz Bass C (from April). The tutor provides handouts for each lesson and demonstrates current coursework, including any details about theory, harmony, rhythm, phrasing, and technique. Students are encouraged to perform each exercise, which the tutor accompanies on guitar, piano or with backing tracks. Play-along backing tracks are provided for homework and personal development. To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, feedback, advice, and Q&A sessions are conducted in a constructive and supportive environment.
A reasonable command of your instrument and a basic understanding of chord symbols and harmony is required, The course follows on from Bass Guitar 3, but is also designed for those who have not attended before. If in doubt, please discuss with the tutor which bass guitar course you are most suited for. Online enrolment on term 3 of this course is only available to those enrolled in the previous term.
