Learn how to create three dimensional forms from plain or textured sheet metal by using simple tools dies and jigs with the use of the press former or a bench vice. Develop a series of samples of creative simple hollow forms. This one day practical course is suitable for students with basic jewellery making skills.

What you will learn
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- use the hydraulic press to create 3D forms, and a low tech method to achieve similar results
- use the rolling mills to texture sheet metal prior to pressforming
- create hollow forms suitable for beads and/or small batch repeat items
- understand how to design shapes suitable for successful pressforming and how to cut formers from various materials

This is a practical course. Each stage of the process will be demonstrated to the group and to individuals as appropriate. As a group we will view and discuss work made on the course; this is of great value to understanding the pitfalls and successes of pressforming!
Entry requirements
Previous experience in this technique is not necessary however familiarity with the jewellery studio environment and the use of hand tools will be beneficial.
What you need to know before you enrol
The jewellery studio is on the 3rd floor of the main building, there is lift access. You need a moderate level of fitness to be able to use jewellery equipment.
