Class format and activities
There will be a series of step-by-step demonstrations that will introduce you to the techniques of wet packing, cloisonné and texturing. You will start by preparing your enamels and your silver piece. On the silver we will explore texturing the metal using a variety of tools, including gravers, punches and burrs. Working on our prepared piece of silver we will learn to wet pack the enamels and apply cloisonné wires and foil. We will look at and discuss ways that you can develop enamel jewellery pieces and how your sample piece can be made into a pendant. There will be an emphasis on sharing knowledge and experience, through discussion, show and tell and group crit. The tutor will work with students one-to-one and in groups.
