A friendly introduction to painting and observational skills. You will be guided through techniques of watercolour, acrylics and oil paint, responding to objects, images and portraiture.
The tutor will discuss and demonstrate materials and techniques. You will be encouraged to look at the work of artists and to work on set projects. With tutor guidance and the support of the group, you will make paintings exploring the 3 different mediums of watercolour, acrylics and oil paint in response to objects and images.
The course is suitable for beginners and for those with some experience wishing for a refresher.
As we are using pigments and solvents, health & safety guidelines need to be considered.
We will begin with acrylic paint. The 3 primary colours red, yellow and blue including black and white will be sufficient to begin with. Brushes that can be used for both acrylic and oil. Hog or synthetic haired brushes. Round no. 0, 2, 6 and 10 Flat head no. 4 and 8 Filbert no. 2 and 10 A jar for water and kitchen towel. A rubber sharpener and B pencil. A pad of A3 acrylic / oil paper or A3 canvas boards.
