There are other versions of this course available. We’ve listed them below and summarized the differences between the one that you are currently viewing.
Suitable for those with two terms' experience, taught in the digital piano classroom. Improve your basic piano technique, including simple scales, chords and pieces, as well as music reading, working at around Grade 1 (ABRSM) standard.
You will be playing a digital piano with headphones, which gives each student total privacy whilst allowing the tutor to "listen in" using another set of headphones. Students will also learn the basics of music notation and some principles of theory.
You should have completed successfully Piano 1B (or equivelant standard).
You should be careful when playing the piano to maintain good posture and take regular breaks to stretch and relax, to avoid overuse injuries. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.: progression to another course. Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time.
Notebook, pencil and eraser, and manuscript paper for music notation. Text: Adult Piano Adventures All-in-One Book 1 [Faber]. Other materials to be supplied by the tutor. The College provides headphones for all students but you are encouraged to bring your own.
