What you will learn

Suitable for complete beginners and those who wish to refresh their foundations in tap. *When full, please enrol on Rhythm Tap 1 (daytime) on Thursdays* Upbeat non-syllabus tap classes in rhythm tap, through innovative tap company Sole Rebel Tap. A chance to learn new steps and sequences through the creativity, playfulness and musicality of rhythm tap.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Execute a number of basic tap steps
  • Demonstrate an ability to keep time and rhythm
  • Show awareness in the weight placement, ankle relaxation and engagement with the floor, needed for different movements
  • Perform a learned short combination

    A warm-up followed by a number of new tap steps are explored and practised, through dynamic exercises and a vast range of music. At the end of class a short fun routine is developed and rehearsed, built up across the course. You will also receive a weekly 5-minute routine-recap video to aid your practise.

    Entry requirements

    A basic level of fitness. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, have any serious health concerns or a history of injury, and inform your tutor of any physical activity you have been advised to avoid.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    A basic level of fitness is required to be able to do the practical work. However adjustments will be made to the movements to meet particular physical or learning needs. Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.

    What you need

    -Tap Shoes (Complete beginners may bring hard soled shoes or boots which hold to the foot. Avoid trainers or slip-on shoes.) -Loose-fitting supporting clothing for ease of movement
