This course is suitable for absolute beginners. This is a group class and you need to have the ability (or the desire to learn how) to follow some appropriate guidance from the tutor in a group setting.
What you need to know before you enrol
You need to practise for a short time regularly between lessons as the class progresses as a unit. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.: progression to another course. Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time.
What you need
Your instrument and bow. Advice from the tutor on buying an instrument/bow and books will be given during the first class. Advice on where you can get your instrument: visit a music shop and enquire about prices and quality; it all depends on the budget you have. If you prefer buying online, then these two sites could be helpful (the only thing to watch for is that the violin should be 4/4 size, which is the size for adults), just read the descriptions what level each model is made for. When buying online, a professional set-up in a violin shop still could be needed, as well. https://www.gear4music.com/orchestral/string-instruments/violins/full-size https://www.thomann.de/gb/violins_and_violas.html?sw=Violin&smuuid=f976b243-581d-43b1-9417-5b091af6a509 Advice can be given with the choice and purchase of a shoulder rest and accessories.
