Sustainability Week Events 2024
This year, Sustainability Week will be running from Monday 22 – Friday 26 April, and we’d love for you to get involved. Check out a list of activities and events below:

Wednesday 24 April 12:30 – 1:30pm at Waterloo: Do you need advise on how to up-cycle or mend your clothes. Join our textiles team who will be on hand to show you examples of upcycling and visible mending. Feel free to bring your clothing items that you need directional support on how to mend them. The team will provide basic needles and thread and embroidery thread and scrap fabrics for applique. The team will also provide you with some instructional handouts to take away if you are interested. This is a a casual drop-in workshop.

All Week. The college will be placing a clearly labelled waste deposit bin at each centre to collect any e-waste you are looking to dispose of. All e-waste collected during this time will be safely disposed of.

Monday 22 – Friday 26 April at Waterloo. In the second year of the Waterloo Centre Bookshelf Swap, we are looking to continue providing an opportunity to share the beloved stories you have already read and discover something new. How will it work?A bookshelf will be available in the Foyer at Waterloo Centre. You are welcome to bring in a book/s and swap with any book you are interested in on the shelf. We encourage anyone swapping bookings to leave the same number of books/s you have taken. Books must be in good condition.

22 April, 1:30 – 4:00pm at North Kensington Centre: Join us for a celebration event of sustainable fashion, the Vintage Fashion Fair in the Main Hall at North Kensington Centre. This is a brilliant opportunity to donate any unwanted clothes or find a new favourite outfit. Our fashion students will be attending to assist with styling and helping you find and design your new look. If you love fashion and want to save the planet, come to the Vintage Fashion Fair.

Tuesday 23 April 6:00 – 7:00pm, at Waterloo Centre: Kristina Roszynski and Carol Costello, partners at Cullinan Studio, will discuss recent projects including Marlborough Sports Garden with a focus on the World Earth Day theme of Planet vs Plastics and our collaboration with London South Bank University on energy projects research. FREE EVENT – 24 April: 5:30 – 7:00pm at Waterloo: Join Susannah Hall from Permablitz London and Zoë Burt, head of Textiles at Morley College for an evening event in the Morley Dye Garden. Learn about sustainable design, natural dye plants, soil health, water planning, ecology, and biodiversity. Talk, Tour and Natural Dye demonstration, and we will have some dye plant seeds available for planting and to give away. Book Here

VOLUNTEERS WANTED Friday 26 April: 2:30 – 5:00pm at Waterloo: Planting Wild Scabious plug plants in suitable locations. With a long flowering period, this is one of the best plants to attract a variety of pollinators and will hopefully self-seed for the coming year. We are looking for volunteers to help with the planting and this will be exciting to watch the plant grow as the seasons come and go. Book Here
