What you will learn

The 19+ Pre-Foundation Studies Course at Morley College Waterloo is an intensive part-time programme of study in Fine Art. Expand your experience, knowledge and skills in drawing, painting, printmaking and 3-D Sculpture. If you’ve been out of education for some time or are looking to build your academic confidence and a comprehensive portfolio ahead of undergraduate or postgraduate study, this course could be the perfect next step. The small cohort’s size of up to 16 students ensures that you will benefit from a high tutor-to-student ratio, working in a supportive and creative environment with tutors who are also art industry professionals. You will also have access to specialist support services and advice on finance and funding. Our students are guaranteed an interview for the 19+ UAL Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • use a sketchbook for research purposes, for drawing, collecting, recording and exploring ideas
  • use different fine art media
  • use different fine art media to explore and use visual language
  • develop and consolidate ideas, and build a portfolio of work

    This part time course is taught on Fridays 10:00 - 17:00. Over 7 weeks, you will follow practical projects in: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Sculpture. Projects are underpinned by 1:1 tutorials, group appraisals, self-directed study and recommended gallery visits.

    Entry requirements

    You must have an enthusiasm for fine art. You must also have achieved a minimum grade of C at GCSE level in English, be working at that level or have the capacity and time to work towards it. This course is aimed at adult learners and our students are aged 19 or over.

    If you are on a low income, you may be eligible for some financial support towards fees through the RFSA fund.
