Monday 13th June 2022
Meat Free Monday
All day across all centres
Meat Free Monday kicks off Sustainability Week in all the College canteens. Having at least one plant-based day a week is a fun and easy way to do something good for the planet and our future. Meatless, or Meat Free, Monday is an international campaign that encourages people to not eat meat on Mondays to improve the health of individuals and the health of the planet. Penny Lecture: Fibreshed – Soil to Soil Textiles, Regenerative Agriculture and Community

Join us for a talk by Deborah Barker Director of Field & Folk and Director and Co Founder of the Southeast England Fibreshed to explore how the fibreshed movement in the UK is working to create a regional regenerative fashion and textile ecosystem for the 21st century.

Book Swap

We are all trying to make small changes to help sustainability and the environment and this week will consist of events and talks to help you. The Book Swap provides an opportunity to share the beloved stories you have already read and discover something new.
How will it work?
10:00 -11:00 Donations taken and books organised
11:00 Opening of the Book Swap
Terms and conditions
- Book donations will be taken at the event between 10:00 and 11:00 and will not be accepted before (as we don’t have the room to store them)
- Free entry
- Once donated, you will receive a token for each book you bring, this can then be swapped for your new book that you take home
- Swappers must leave with the same amount of books they bring with them
- Swish at your own risk
- A coin will be flipped over any disputes on an item
- Books must be in good condition and with out missing pages
Dye Garden Tours

Learn exciting new facts on the history of plant dyes for textiles and fashion. Discover which root growing in the Morley Garden was used by the ancient Egyptians and which leaf yields blue and was traded in medieval Europe. See examples of fabrics, dyed and printed using colours from the Garden.

Remake Remodel Workshop

Do you have a garment at home that you do not wear much because its not ‘quite right’ and you’d like to re-fashion or repurpose it? In this workshop you can transform an entire existing garment into something completely different or change a few elements to make it more enjoyable to wear.
Clothes Swap

We are all trying to make small changes to help sustainability and the environment and this week will consist of events and talks to help you. Swishing provides an opportunity to donate clothes you have fallen out of love with and fall in love with something new.
How will it work?

Garden Plant Swap

Visit the Waterloo Centre Garden for a plant and cuttings swap! Bring your plant or flower cuttings from home, house plants, seeds or bulbs and swap with other members of the Morley community.
Wear Green Day
All day across all centres
Help raise awareness of environmental and climate issues by wearing green on 16th June, whether that’s to your workplace, around your home or on your daily walk – post a selfie and share on social media with the hashtag #morleygreenweek! Your Green item can be green in colour, an up-cycled item, a second hand item bought on Depop or Ebay, or an item passed down to you by family or a friend!

Eco Instagram Craft Fair

This event is running as part of Morley’s Sustainability Week 2022 – Morley’s initiative to raise awareness around the issues of sustainability, environmentalism and climate emergency.
We are excited to share with you our Instagram Craft Fair is going green on 19th June 2022. We are looking forward to welcoming a range of amazing eco-conscious small businesses and our regular makers back to the fair.

Shoppers
• Head over to Instagram and check out our stories from 11am-1pm
• If you see something you like, you will be able to follow the link to their page and shop their wares.
Sellers
• Between 11am and 1pm, make ONE story featuring your product with its price
• Give us some extra details in your post about why your brand/products are eco-friendly
• Be sure to tag @morley_college so we are able to share and include your product in the fair.
• Please be patient, you will be including in the market within the time frame.
• Keep products family friendly
• The graphic for advertising the event will be on our Instagram, please share before hand to showcase your involvement and gain traction to our page.
